There is a plethora of things to do off campus that don’t involve a long drive or a lot of money. One of these such events took place this past weekend. The Carroll County Farm Museum hosts several events during the fall, including the Maryland Wine Fest. That’s right: 5 minutes down the road from McDaniel is the wine fest for the entire state of Maryland.
Since I had just turned 21 in the spring, this was my first and last chance to attend the event so I couldn’t pass it up. 37 wineries from around the state were in attendance and the weather was beautiful. There were so many people wandering around, sampling wines, chatting, and lounging on blankets in the grass. When I found out the attendance was over 20,000, I was amazed but not surprised.
This type of event can be enjoyed by students, parents, professors, and alumni alike. The Carroll County Farm Museum also hosts events such as the upcoming Fall Harvest Days, blacksmithing demonstrations, and Civil War era reenactments.
My roommates and I really enjoyed our experience and would be happy to head back for another event.
