Spring has arrived! Well, officially that is. While people all across the Mid-Atlantic are out getting free Rita’s Water Ice to celebrate the occasion and the weather where I am is quite pleasant, it still doesn’t seem like spring yet. I’m still wearing thick socks with snowflakes printed on them and things are still looking pretty dead outside (though I have spotted some emerging daffodils).
In a few days, I’ll be back on campus for the last eight weeks of the semester (which seems like a lot of time, but I know from experience that when it comes to those last eight weeks of spring semester, it’s absolutely not). I’ll certainly be ready for spring, but the trees and other plants around me probably won’t be, not yet anyway. Last year, the day after spring break, we even had a snow day. (We’ve had so many snow days this semester that I’ll be disappointed if that happens again.)
Fortunately, I know that a month from now, campus will be gorgeous. I have ample photographic evidence. Last year, on April 20, I took some time to get away from the noise and craziness that is the tie-dyeing, moon bouncing, and live music of McDaniel’s annual Spring Fling to show my DSLR camera some love and take pictures of some of the beautiful foliage that McDaniel has to offer.
Here are some of my favorite shots, beautiful reminders of what a lush and lovely place McDaniel College’s campus is:
