“The Elephants” by Salvador Dali

“Elephants” is a oil painting on canvas, that was painted by Salvador Dali in 1948 and is located in a private collection.

The painting uses warm colors of red, orange, and yellow to represent a sunset. We can see two elephants on each side of the canvas in the mid ground, both with very long spider legs with two monument pillars on their backs. In the background we see the sunset and mountains with a building in the middle. The pillars on the elephants backs have eyes and other weird markings. In the foreground we can see two human figures staring at each other while at a distance. The figure on the left is standing still and looks like a skeleton, the figure on the right has wings and is charging towards the figure on the left. The building in the middle of the background appears to be a gong bell, with triangles on each corner as if it was hit and is making a sound.
