While the ability to open up to 24 tabs in the iOS 6 version of Safari is great, there’s another (and faster) way to gain access to frequently used sites. Blog reader Di Vaccaro writes in with this great tip: Did you know that you can set up the portal, or any other frequently visited website as an app? Take advantage of Safari’s sharing options to easily create “apps” for any website. Here’s the how-to.
- Open your website of choice in Safari.
- Tap the sharing icon at the top of the display (the right-facing arrow next to the address bar).
- If you’re using iOS 5, choose the Add to Home Screen option in the menu that appears. IOS 6 users will see a slightly different menu that contains icons instead of text, but the result is the same.
- Type a name for your app in the next box and click Add.
- Exit Safari and tap the newly created icon to go directly to the site.
Thanks for the tip, Di!
