ALERT: Disney Dork Ahead

Here is my warning: If you don’t like Disney, you probably won’t like many more of my posts. 2013 is the year of the mouse, at least that’s what I’m calling my year. The year of Mickey Mouse. This is the year I am finally going to start working for my dream company so it may be a recurring theme in many of my posts.

Anyway back to the point…I just got back from my first adult vacation. By that I mean, I paid for everything myself without help from anyone. I saved for almost an entire year to afford my weeks vacation to Walt Disney World.

One of the things I love most about Jan Term at McDaniel is the time you have off. Not only do you get the 3 weeks off for the holidays, but you get 3 more off if you choose not to take a class. This year, I stayed home to get in some extra hours at work before heading back for the spring. The way it worked out was that I had about a solid week off in between Christmas and the next time I had to be at work. Sounds like a perfect time to go down to Florida for a few days and soak up all the warm weather I possibly can before returning to the cold Maryland Mountains.

One of my sorority sisters and I planned the whole trip. We spent days planning it instead of studying for finals (whoops). Our number one goal was to meet every princess. That meant waiting in at least 11 lines…or so we thought.

The first day we met Cinderella, Aurora and Rapunzel in the Theatre on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and Ariel in her new Grotto in New Fantasyland (which is cooler than I had expected!).

The Second day we met Snow White in Germany in Epcot and then had dinner with she, Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, and Aurora in Norway (a little repetitive but Cinderella and Ariel are my favorites and I’m not going to pass up on an invitation to dinner with the princesses!)

The third day we met Jasmine and Aladdin in Morocco and Mulan in China while we were visiting the World Showcase in Epcot. There we also ran into Marie from The Aristocats in France, and Alice and the Queen of Hearts, and Mary Poppins in England.

The fourth day we met Pocahontas in Animal Kingdom and our final day we met Tiana and Merida in the Magic Kingdom.

It was an absolutely magical trip and I can’t wait to be part of that magic every day in the Fall!
