Last Friday, my friends and I went to the homecoming dance, which I hope will become a new tradition here at McDaniel.
Although there weren’t as many people there as I would have hoped, at least not at first, it was a lot of fun and I’m glad we went. It was worth the two and a half hours of getting ready as a group, which was more time than we spent at the dance but not quite as much fun.
There was food available, such as various cheeses, some small snacks, and cookies, as well as punch, tables covered in candy set up in the back, and a large area set aside for a dance floor. My friends and I were the first ones on the dance floor as soon as we got there, but that was mostly since the lights were still on. Once the lights were off, the floor filled with people showing off their moves.
All the dancing was tiring, but the song choices were too good to stay off my feet very long. We danced until around midnight and then sat near Kriel Lounge chatting and taking pictures, a good way to end a wonderful night.
I didn’t get back to my dorm until 1am, which was late for me, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a great thing to add to homecoming week and I’m sure in the next few years it’ll become a much bigger affair.
