There’s no better time than the start of a new semester to make sure your iOS devices are in good health, or at least backed up in case anything unforeseen and unpleasant does happen.
The writers at MacWorld have plenty of ideas and tips to help you prepare for (almost) anything. Start off with Fact or fiction: Nine iPhone and iPad battery-saving techniques tested and see if you know as much as you think you do about what does and doesn’t drain your battery. You Make Backups, Don’t You?
If you aren’t diligently backing up every day (and who does that?) then stop the guilt trips by following the advice in Bugs & Fixes: Back up to avoid iPhone disasters. Don’t be put off by the title—the tips here apply to iPads as well.
Now For the Fun Stuff
No beginning-of-the-semester blog post would be complete without at least a few app mentions. It’s always worth checking Apple’s own favorites list. This year, along with some old favorites like MindNode, Evernote, and MyScript Calculator, you’ll find Poems By Heart and EleMints: Periodic Table (which claims to do no less than “bring out your inner mad scientist”).
Do you have tips or a favorite app to share? Leave a comment (see the link at the top of the post) and tell us all about it!
