We landed in Nanjing not too long after departing from Xi’an. Feeling cramped in the plane, the food was not bad, however I had enough travelling small, cramped vehicles at that point. We quickly went outside to find our bus not there. We waited for a while before our driver made it over and we quickly loaded our bags. From there, I fell asleep all the way into Wuhu until I was awoken by the city roads. From there, I saw the signs for the Wuhu FantaWild Adventure Park (蕪湖方特歡樂世界) which I knew, meant we were in Wuhu.

As we drove to our destination, we drove past the very hotel I had stayed in a year and a half ago. We also drove by many familiar landmarks in Wuhu until we arrived at Anhui Normal University, which seemed quite different from what I saw last year until I was informed that this was the new campus and that the hotel we were staying for the first week, was on that new campus. The campus was massive in comparison to McDaniel’s campus. We waited downstairs to get our room keys and the proceeded to move into our rooms. The hotel had the best elevators I have ever encountered as they closed within seconds boarding the elevator if you did not hold the button to keep the door open. It was great when I was in a hurry in the morning. We entered our rooms and it was much better compared to the dorms we stayed at. While it was not hotel-level of beautiful, it was wonderful enough. Until I sat on the bed that is. I threw my bag on top thinking it would be fine, but it made a thud, which I thought it was strange. It was not until I plopped onto the bed that I realised that I would be sleeping on a wooden board. When I told my roommate how stiff the bed was, he said it was not that bad. When he left the room, I realised that his bed was softer, so of course it is not “that” bad.

Upon resting for a little bit, which was when I had the opportunity to have a proper shower since the hike on the Great Wall (you could probably imagine how happy and refreshed I was). We eventually toured around the campus and went on our own ways before getting dinner. Afterwards, everyone returned to relax as we were well exhausted.

Over the next week, we made the hotel we stayed at our home base, began our work on the tiehua industry. We travelled all around Wuhu spending our mornings having meetings, our afternoons conducting interviews, the evenings free to roam around. We met students from the economics and business administration department and made new friends with them. About after a week, we moved two our second hotel in Wuhu, this time, with more comfort, luxury, and pizazz
